Actually, Lt. Col. Scheller publically asked several questions and expressed observations that didn't appear to me to be outside the realm of due diligence or prudent judgment. Perhaps the fact that he publically exposed the Achilles heel of military leaders who were in the position to make decisions throwing caution to the wind to yield to the wishes of the current administration as though whatever they thought professionally was irrelevant.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but what a tragic and seemingly irresponsible decision rests on the shoulders of our nation.
Elsewhere in the news, NRB spokesman Dan Darling was fired for making pro-vaccine statements on 'Morning Joe' (RNS). Reportedly, his endorsement of the vaccine violated the evangelical nonprofit's posture of remaining neutral about COVID-19 vaccines.
While I'd be the first to admit from mere observation, folks endorsing the vaccine and those opposing it probably drew the same line in the sand over whether to wear a face mask or go without. Who is to say that either side erred? I figure it is a personal decision and an individual will live or not with the consequences of the choices made.
The one issue for which I feel strongly is the nation's current posture concerning abortion. Reportedly, for the past five months under the current presidential administration, the F.D.A. (Federal Drug Administration) approved the distribution of abortion pills by mail during the pandemic. The rationale was that people are isolated because of the pandemic and this would make the availability of abortion as simple as going to the mailbox.
There is now proposed legislation to continue the practice on an ongoing basis. It would allow access to a pill to cause an abortion during the first ten weeks of pregnancy without the need to ever visit a doctor.
In case you are on the fence regarding abortion, you need to know that abortion is the leading cause of death in this country (over 830,000 a year) and one sanctioned by the current administration.
It saddens me that there is a veil of silence on the part of the Christian people in this nation that seems to take a Que sera sera approach – whatever will be will be.
If ever there was a day when a word from God is needed, it is now. How about this one from Exodus 21:22-34 ESV, where God prescribed the death penalty for any Israelite who assaulted a woman and caused her to miscarry.
The Scripture reads: "When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman's husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot."
By the way, this is not a political issue. It is a life and death issue sanctioned by God.
All My Best!
