Apparently, there was a repair the plumber needed to make before the slab could be poured. Because of rain this week, the plumber was behind schedule. Consequently, he couldn't make the repair prior to yesterday, and he could not give a specific time he would arrive.
Nothing could be done until the repair was made. It didn't make sense to have a line of cement trucks waiting for the plumber. Okay, I understand that. It was not the kind of information I wanted to hear.
I thanked the builder and told him I wasn't going to shoot the messenger. A little disappointed - yes; angry- no. Unfortunately, it will now be a week from Friday before the concrete can be poured because of prior commitments by the concrete company. That, too, was not what I wanted to hear.
Did it ruin our day? Not at all. We made the best of it. Yesterday was the General's birthday. It was a low-key day at home, but the weather was perfect. We ordered pizza for dinner and dined outside on the patio.
They say age is a matter of mind. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. The General was nineteen years old when we got married. I did the math in my head, and couldn't believe how long we've been married. The next anniversary rolls around in June.
Hopefully, by our anniversary, our house will be framed and we will be making progress on building our forever home. We were in our last forever home over nineteen years. The likelihood of being in the next place that long would fall into the magical thinking category. Some of you are thinking "delusional" is a better term. I get it. You could be right. Regardless of the time, we will make the most of it.
All My Best!
