The General asked if we needed to go back for the key or could we wait a month until we make our next visit? I suggested that the U.S. mail would be faster than that, but she thought it best not to put it in the mail. Who's really to say?
If you agree with that statement that I carelessly left my key behind, you may be related to my wife. She didn't exactly say that in so many words, but she wanted an explanation of how I failed to keep up with my key?
I was at a loss for words. I suggested that when I got dressed to go to graduation the evening before, I apparently didn't transfer the key from the casual slacks I had been wearing.
She instantly shot a hole in that story. The General is as sharp as a tack (pun not intended). She reminded me that when we got back to the car after graduation. when she reached out and touch the door handle, the doors didn't unlock. Consequently, I took the key from my pocket to open the doors.
Okay, so I had no explanation of how I failed to get the key to the BMW. If Craig had left good enough alone, we would have gone home with the key left behind. It was the second picture that he sent that proved to be the gamechanger. I also left another key ring that included keys to the house and the post office box. For convenience sake, we made a U-turn and headed back to retrieve my keys.
The U-turn was a trigger that brought to mind that we had the same experience approximately a year ago. Only that time, I failed to remember my BiPap machine. Without question, we had no alternative but to go back.
Keys aren't nearly as important unless you find yourself in a situation where you need a key. In that case, the level of importance escalates dramatically. Rather than say we "wasted an hour", I prefer to think of it as time well spent on the off-chance that I would need the key and be locked out without it.
Late last night, the General asked where I put her iPad. Guess who failed to remember to put it in the car before we left Cat Spring? I figured there was no need to ask the General how that happened. Some things are better left unsaid.
All My Best!
