I've also known adults who seemingly don't always have the facts, but unless you know differently, you could easily be mislead. It is almost as though they need to know everything, and when they don't, they fill in the gaps of their knowledge with what seems plausible to them and present it as truth.
I figure that truth is stranger than fiction, and unless I know something is true, I'm not going to pretend to be in the know. It never occurred to me that I have to know everything. I'm okay with saying, "I don't know."
It should not come as no shock to anyone that I don't always get it right. I'm pretty transparent in sharing how I messed up and will often acknowledge that I am either dumber than dirt or have "STUPID" tattooed on my forehead. . I even provide true-to-life examples in my blog.
When I was a kid growing up, my mother made it clear that no liar would enter the kingdom of heaven, and any child of hers that was untruthful would likely not live to see adulthood. It wasn't going to happen under her watch! By the way, I believed her. Truth was a highly regarded virtue.
If you've been following my blog, you may be tempted to say: "Liar, liar, pant on fire. Please know that I would not knowingly and willfully spin a yarn filled with untruths. On at least two previous occasions, I've announced that construction was set to start on our home that week. That was true, but it didn't happen.
Both times I've shared that, it turned out that the materials needed for framing weren't yet available. Late last week, the builder thanked me for my patience and told me that the lumber we've been waiting on is available. Reportedly, it will be delivered to the job site today. Framing on our house will start tomorrow.
It is with that thought my outlook is bright today. I've been disappointed before, but surely this time "all engines are go." If I subsequently share with you next week that building has yet been delayed again, please be gentle with me. That will mean that I am dangerously close to the end of my rope.
All My Best!
